Last night's Blue Moon was beautiful.  

and to my eye, 

it looked no different than any other full moon an a clear night.

But to my heart, 

it was magical.

Missed Opportunity Comes Round Again

Last spring a couple of lovely Junk'enistas

 threw a 'party' in my neighborhood.

They hosted their Farm & Frill Vintage Market 

at Genesis Farm just outside Enumclaw.

Well, because I was away from my blog,

 I missed the opportunity to send them a hearty welcome, 

but I'm not missing that opportunity this time.

 
  

They are returning to Genesis Farm 

with a fall 'party' on September 28th.

If you're in the area, I hope you drop by...

If you're not in the area, consider making the trip, 

the PNW is a great place to visit in the Autumn.

If you do make it to Farm & Frill, 

swing into town, stop by the shop

and show us your treasure! 

 By then the Matrons will be dressed for the

2nd Annual Witches Night Out in Enumclaw.

Another event you should plan to attend.

This year it will be on October 12th.

I'll post more as the details are finalized,

but I can tell you...

 it will be howling good time!

Getting Back in the Groove 

As I mentioned in my last post...I want to be a 'regular blogger'.

Right now, I'm happy at the relatively short period since my last post!

For those of you who've been following my story, you know I've just moved.

Well, you know I'ma gonna 'milk' that excuse for  all it's worth...

and that's my excuse tonight for letting so many days pass since my last post.  

But, it's time to get back in the proverbial saddle.

My shop is feeling void because I haven't been out finding treasure....

It's not that I'm complaining,

 because that means things have sold....

but I gotta get it in gear! 

Here are a few shots of a lovely dresser we have in the shop.

 

 She was one of our first window displays

(the mirror makes pictures a little tricky) 

Before we moved her out, she gave us a great 4th of July window.

 

Her knobs are perfect, a little lacey touch.

She has great detail.

She's very lovely...

...and only $250.

Time Marches on...

Every time I get back to my blog,

 I have every intention of making a daily entry (or almost daily)

and hmmm I haven't made it......yet.

There is that saying...

the definition of crazy is repeating the same action

 and expecting a different outcome...

Well, I may be crazy 

because right now I'm still believing

 I'm going to be a regular blogger 

even though it's been months! 

I have been a regular on Face Book

......since I opened a little vintage shop!

Oh yeah, that's what's been taking so much of my time!

The local florist didn't want to continue selling the gifty stuff

so I rented the front of the shop and a couple of friends have part of the space,

(Glenlyn & Sharon)

and my SIL, Denice is selling a few things too.

Here's how we describe what we do....

Vintage Garden.

We had our soft opening in May and had our Grand Opening in June.

We've sold a lot of 'stuff' and I still have more in storage.

these Vintage Faire fundraiser sales were the real beginning of what I'm doing now. 

Sale-Day One

It's early and I'm about ready to head to work.  

 I'm sending good mental vibes to all my fellow vendors

who will be working the first day of our big Downsizing Sale.

Both Porter Antiques and Young's Flowers have a lot of 

merchandise to move so we can have room for 

The Vintage Garden.

I finished painting the beadboard wall 

and the long counter is out of Young's...

meaning the other wall is ready for paint...

I think it really brightens up the store.

 Everything's been pulled from the back and on the sale floor..

something for all seasons, events, holidays.

Everything's for sale...Well, except Mary and the baby!

Early Changes

I first ran across Young's Flowers 

during a visit to The Victorian Country Christmas...

gosh, I think that was about 20 years ago!

I remember coming out to see the shop because of all the wonderful

vintage style gift and home decor items they had in their booth.

At the time, I remember thinking that Enumclaw 

would be a great little place to live....

There was a drug store on the corner with a Hallmark section, 

which is now split into separate operations.  

One half will soon open as Jackson's, an Italian pizza place and the other side

is a busy Gaming Zone for teens, lots of big screens and Rock Band, etc.  

When I came out here years ago, there was a quilt shop 

which it's now a Thai restaurant and it still has a wonderful mural 

of a an old fashioned haberdasher outside.

In my rafting days, I drove through this little town many a time

 and continued to think that it would be a great place to live....

but it was my brother Don and his wife Denice who made the first move. 

It wasn't until about 8 years ago that I finally moved to Enumclaw

and although the commute is llonnnggg...

 I love being in this small community.

I love driving by the cows and fields,

I love seeing the mountain bold & beautiful whenever the sky is clear,

I love the seasonal parades that have as many people 

going down the street as sitting on the side lines...

and I love that people are so interested in our move across the street...

I think it's amazing that Young's Flowers was one of the first things

that lured me to Enumclaw and now we will be sharing a store space.

The Youngs no longer own the business.  

For several years it's been in the hands of 3 very nice people

Helen & Mary (Mom & Daughter) and John (Mr.Helen) is their go-to-guy

for building, moving, etc...as well as the ever important flower delivery.  

John's been very busy moving, remodeling, & rewiring their counter. 

 I've been painting the lower walls to a lighter color...and Sharon (from Porter's)

has been clearing the upstairs, getting ready for our big sale this weekend...

  I'm only painting below the display loft.

  The area above is a light moss green which we'll keep for awhile. 

This picture shows the beadboard in black and 

there were a couple of red sections too.

 

  ...here's the primer mid-application.  I had it tinted the same color as the paint,

which is Swiss Cream.  It's still wet here, but the finish is actually flat.  

...and here's the next wall to get paint...

 

 ...and then there's the purple carpet 

and this little 'loft' that we need to clear out...
